Birmingham Bar Foundation Bocce Ball 2015! Good times were had by all at the Birmingham Bar Foundation’s 7th Annual Bocce Ball Tournament—the Michael D. Freeman Championship held atop the Kress Building in the heart of Downtown Birmingham. Headlining the event were 18 bocce ball teams from law firms in the greater Birmingham area going head-to-head for the champion title and a year of bragging rights. After hours of grueling competition Josh Baker, Jay Lester, Andrew Nix and Ashley Wright, playing for Maynard Cooper & Gale, PC, were crowned this year’s winners. The event also featured the second year of the BBF Chili Cook-off. Tickets to the tournament included unlimited bowls of competition chili and complimentary smells. Judges awarded Trey McClure and Leslie Wright from the BBA Solo and Small Firm section their first place prize. Pamela Blalock and Laura Shine of the Women Lawyers Section blew away event-goers with David Skinner’s personal recipe, taking home the People’s Choice Award. Beer donated by Cahaba Brewery and wine flowed throughout the event, while guests helped themselves to treats donated by Zoe’s Kitchen. As the sun set behind the nearby Alabama theatre, guests cheered on the final teams and got down to music performed by Nathan Carter and Ross Kinder. G 28 Birmingham Bar Association
