Public Service Lorant Law Group Like clockwork, the attorneys from the Lorant Law Group are at the District Court Help Desk every month and have been for several years. Either managing partner Charles Lorant or associates Vincent Saylor or Ryan Myers will, without fail, volunteer to help clients with almost any civil issue. Besides serving at the Help Desk, the Lorant Law Group attorneys often accept clients for full pro bono representation if they determine those clients need further assistance to shepherd their case through the court system. So far this year, Lorant Law Group attorneys have put in more than 70 hours of service and served at least 27 clients. When not helping pro bono clients, Lorant Law Group attorneys practice in a wide variety of litigation and transactional areas, including consumer rights and consumer protection, foreclosures, personal injury, civil rights and civil liberties, labor and employment, and a variety of other areas encompassed by a general litigation practice. Ida Tyree Hyche Tyree Hyche & Dixon Once this year, Attorney Ida Tyree Hyche e-mailed the Birmingham Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program to agree to accept all the open bankruptcy cases that were featured in the program’s weekly email newsletter. Ms. Hyche then proceeded to help fi ve clients fi le bankruptcies and turn over new leaves to be able to lead successful lives. Th is is not unusual behavior for Ms. Hyche, a faithful volunteer who closes as many as a dozen cases with the BBVLP every year while also volunteering at the District Court Help Desk, where she has worked more than 30 hours so far this year. Ms. Hyche’s personal goal is to help two pro bono clients per quarter and every quarter she goes above and beyond that benchmark. When she is not volunteering, Ms. Hyche is managing partner of Tyree Hyche & Dixon. Her practice focuses on workers’ compensation, bankruptcy, and probate law. Ms. Hyche received her Business Administration degree with a concentration in Accounting from Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where she graduated magna cum laude. Ms. Hyche is a graduate of the Birmingham School of Law. Honza Prchal Associate Heninger Garrison Davis Honza Prchal is a regular face at the weekly Monday and Th ursday Birmingham Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program District Court Help Desk. So far this year, Mr. Prchal has volunteered more than 70 hours and has helped 33 pro se clients fi ght wrongful evictions in order to remain in their homes, challenge improper garnishments, and handle a myriad of other legal issues standing in the way of clients leading productive lives. At Heninger Garrison Davis, Mr. Prchal is an associate whose areas of emphasis include mass torts, especially pharmaceutical and medical device work, and also general litigation. He has spent at least half his time on mass torts even before he started working with W. Lewis Garrison, Jr. in 1997, and he continues to enjoy helping clients navigate and understand an esoteric and confusing area of law where it is far too easy and far too common for clients to feel like numbers, rather than individuals with claims.
