Kracke Book Reviews Family Law in Alabama, Practice and Procedure, 2016 Edition by Rick Fernambucq and Gary Pate | LexisNexis, Pages non-paginated Th is Sixth Edition of Family Law in Alabama is truly an essential element in the offi ce of an Alabama lawyer who does any domestic relations work. It is a thorough publication and the new one is in paperback form and covers such diverse subjects as domestic violence, how to build a client base, interviewing clients and ethical considerations. It also goes into the jurisdiction, grounds, defenses, and related matters as it applies to an action for divorce. It then goes on to set out the law of settlements and agreements, including temporary relief, alimony, marital assets, child custody, visitation and support, modifi cation of child custody, enforcement of child custody, attorneys fees, costs and expenses and a very valuable section on practice and evidentiary matters. It also contains form pleadings and motions. For the curious, it sets out what constitutes an act of adultery, the elements of a common law marriage, testimony of children in court, death of a spouse and the Electronic Communications Privacy Act. It also has a section on adoption and some criminal coverage of a domestic relations nature. Th is would include parental kidnaping, habeas corpus, and domestic violence. As usual, this is a well written, up-to-date publication with footnoted Alabama Code references and case citations along Editor Robert R. Kracke with federal material for uniform child custody jurisdiction and enforcement. It has an extensive index, table of cases, table of statutes, constitutional material, United States Code and Alabama Rules of Civil Procedure references. It can be obtained from LexisNexis and is recommended for your law library.
