BBVLP 3 4 SAFE FAMILIES zzOn Wednesdays, volunteer at the Domestic Relations Help Desk to help low-income clients with family issues. If you are new to Domestic Relations work, rest assured that we will have experienced staff there as well as YWCA counselors, who are present to assist victims of domestic violence. zzGo to court at a special monthly Domestic Relations Self-Represented Court for lowincome clients. zzVolunteer to help a single mom overcome legal issues through our new initiative with The Women’s Fund. None of this great work could have happened without you! For the past six years, the private bar has provided needed operating funds as part of our Champions for Justice multi-year development effort. The current campaign ends in 2018 and we are hopeful that the private bar will continue to support us. Please let us know your level of support. We also appreciate your support of Pro Hops Vino!, our annual wine and beer tasting that has become a true community party. Please mark your calendars for September 20th for the fourth annual Pro Hops Vino! We are seeking sponsors now (and hoping to have 1,000 people attend this year), so let us know if you are interested. To find out more about the BBVLP please visit our website at vlpbirmingham.org, where you can sign-up to volunteer, make a donation, or subscribe to receive our weekly email newsletter. Or feel free to contact me or any of the other staff or board members of the BBVLP. On the first day we had this clinic, 40 low-income veterans lined up seeking legal help one hour before we opened. It’s been that way ever since, which is why we are seeking your help!
