Bar Foundation The Birmingham Bar Foundation Announces the 2018 Fellows and Life Fellows The Birmingham Bar Foundation (BBF) inducted its 2018 Class of Fellows and Life Fellows at the Seventh Annual Fellows Dinner on February 17, 2018 at The Club. The Fellows were selected because of their long-standing commitment to furthering leadership within the legal community. These outstanding attorneys and judges have shown their love of growth and excellence within their field of practice and strived to enhance the overall stature through Bar and civic leadership and empowerment. THE 2018 LIFE FELLOWS ARE AS FOLLOWS: Arnita Brown Foster Honora M. Gathings Lloyd W. Gathings, II Samuel A. Rumore, Jr. “This year’s Fellows Class consists of very talented men and women who have dedicated their professional careers to seeking justice and fairness for all people,” Judge Teresa T. Pulliam, BBF President, said. “We are very proud of their many accomplishments and the impact they have made and continue to make in the justice system.” In addition to recognizing these leaders’ achievements, the Fellows provide critical support for an endowment fund that allows the Foundation to continue its mission of service John Saxon served as the Master of Ceremonies and Jimmy Rane, President and CEO of Great Southern Wood Holdings, Inc., served as the guest speaker for the event. Life Fellow and Former BBF President Anne Lamkin Durward received the Birmingham Bar Foundation Excellence Award for her dedication to the organization. Board members Kevin Butler and Virginia Miller received recognition for their work with the Foundation’s educational programs—Raising the Bar and Resolve-2-Solve. “The generosity of our Fellows ensures that the Foundation is a resource through which the legal community can support initiatives that advance and promote civic and legal education and access to justice,” she added. Established in 1994, the Birmingham Bar Foundation encourages and unifies the philanthropic and educational efforts of the Birmingham Bar Association for the betterment of the community and for the promotion of justice. It accomplishes this mission through legal education scholarships, grants to nonprofit organizations, and civic and legal education programs.
