Birmingham Bar Association Bulletin Fall 2018

A BIT MORE ABOUT THE MENTORING PROGRAM The concept behind the Mentoring Program is simple but yields undeniable benefits! Seasoned lawyers (mentors) and less experienced lawyers (mentees) are matched by the Committee members based on practice areas and other areas of interest. We have a get-to-know social to kick-off the program and another social over the summer where mentees, mentors and committee members develop networks and relationships. Our recent summer social – pictured here – was hosted by Immediate Past President Leila Watson at her beautiful home in Forest Park! The program is a one-year commitment, which includes six in-person mentee-mentor meetings, lots of networking opportunities and helpful courtroom sessions.   Mentee applications are accepted through October 31, 2018 so that mentees can be paired with mentors at the end of the year and kick-off the new year developing the mentor-mentee relationship. Mentor applications are accepted throughout the year. Best of all, the program is FREE and it is open to BBA Members!! Applications for mentees and mentors can be found at http:// birminghambar.org/?Mentoring_program. Or you can contact Pooja Chawla, Chair of the Mentoring Program at lawoffice.pc@ gmail.com or Tom Walker, Co-Chair of the program at tom@mtandj.com. G Birmingham Bar Bulletin/ Fall 2018 35
