Birmingham Bar Association Bulletin Fall 2018

BBA Committee Profile Pooja Chawla No matter where you are in your legal career, the Bar’s Mentoring Program has a spot for you. MENTEES If you are just starting out in the legal profession (i.e., you have been practicing 3 years or less) and want a sounding board to vet your ideas, a colleague to share in your triumphs and an experienced attorney to talk though your challenges, become a mentee in the Mentoring Program. With its focus on professionalism, legal ethics, career development, general practice skills and courtroom techniques, this program will give you a jump start on your career. MENTORS If you have been practicing law for 5 years or more and have a wealth of experience to share with new lawyers, join the program as a mentor. We are always looking for attorneys in a variety of practice areas to help those at the beginning of their careers. Sharing your knowledge and expertise with a new generation of attorneys strengthens our legal community and makes all of us better lawyers. You Are a Perfect Fit for the BBA New Lawyer Mentoring Program . . . Yes, YOU! COMMITTEE MEMBERS If you think that you fall somewhere in between the new attorney and the seasoned attorney, you should consider joining the Mentoring Program Committee. This committee (and others) is a great way to get involved in Bar activities and develop skills that can launch you into leadership positions in the Bar. Playing a role in the Mentoring Program gives participants and committee members the opportunity to network and socialize in a number of fun, free events throughout the year. 34 Birmingham Bar Association
